Vilnius, Lithuania, April 24, 2025 – Northway Biotech is proud to share that it has been named Investor of the Year at the 2024 Investors’ Forum Awards. The award recognizes the company’s contribution to the growth of Lithuania’s biotechnology sector and the strengthening of its business environment, led by its CEO, Prof. Vladas Algirdas Bumelis.
The Investors’ Forum Awards, organized by the Investors’ Forum association, honor companies, individuals, and initiatives that have made a positive impact on Lithuania’s business and investment landscape over the past year. The event brought together leaders from various sectors to celebrate achievements in business, journalism, education, and public service.
Rolandas Valiūnas, Chairman of the Board of the Investors’ Forum, highlighted that “Prof. Vladas Algirdas Bumelis shows how science, combined with clear vision and determination, can drive national progress,” noting his ambition to see biotechnology contribute 5% of Lithuania’s GDP by 2030.
In 2024, under Prof. Bumelis’ leadership, Northway Biotech completed a major phase of "Bio City", which is planned to become the largest biotechnology hub in Europe, invested €50 million in Lithuania and opened the first gene therapy center in the Baltic States.
Through his leadership, Prof. Bumelis has helped strengthen Lithuania’s position in the global biotechnology community, inspiring future scientists and entrepreneurs along the way.
